Sayem Sobhan Anvir started his business career with the undertaking of responsibility of ‘Bashundhara Group’ and currently assuming the position of the Managing Director- of the chief executive of the Group within a very short span of time.
Bashundhara Group consists of 53 companies. Bashundhara is the story of relentless efforts to create resources for the nation for the last two decades. Through operation as a commercial house, Bashundhara endeavors hard to make best use of its resources and contribute to the socio-economic causes at domestic and international level.
Since inception in 1987 Bashundhara has successfully expanded its business activities in various sectors, which include, among others, real estate and property development, industrial establishments and international and domestic trading. At the Group’s disposal there is now a strong work force with proven professional and technological skill who are well geared to take on the challenge of the new millennium under demanding technical, economical and environmental circumstances.
As a business house, Bashundhara has been engaged in various economic activities which, in turn tends to improve the welfare of the people of the country through fostering economic growth, support human development, improve standard of living of the people, protect environment and promote good governance.
Sayem Sobhan Anvir has significant contribution towards development of human resources of Bashundhara Group as well as restructuring of the organization for achieving optimum level of efficiency.
Through his hard labour, sincere efforts and strong commitment, Sayem Sobhan has attained great success in various fields and emerged as a successful business personality in young age. All is activities and dynamic chain of events which he set in motion in Bashundhara Group after completion of his Business management studies in U.K.
Sayem Sobhan’s professional competence, innovativeness and profound commitment has greatly helped in flourishment of the Group. Presently about 50 thousand people are employed in 53 enterprise of the group. Besides, through its multi-directional economic activities, Bashundhara has created employment opportunities to over 100,000 people.
In connection with business as well as for participation in seminars, conferences and symposiums, Sayem Sobhan undertook extensive tours and travels to countries including USA, China, India, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippine, Nepal , Saudi Arabia UAE, UK, France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Netherlands, Greece,Canada, Egypt, Australia etc.
By visiting various industrial installations and business hour across the globe as well as participating in installations conferences seminars/symposiums and through exchanging of views with the global business personalities, he has gathered sound knowledge about international trade, commerce and industry actively participated in various social activities and significantly contributed to the social causes in real perspective.
Sayem Sobhan Anvir is the Secretary General, Board of Trustees of Bashundhara Foundation which runs eight Free Friday Clinics in Manikganj and Brahmanbaria Districts. The Foundation also implementing a project of 200 Bed Hospital in Manikganj under Sayem’s leadership. The Foundation also provides interest free loans to the poverty stricken villagers in its areas he is also members of many social-cultural organizations, philanthropic society / associations.
Sayem Sobhan Anvir has received various prestigious awards for his profound performance in the field of trade, commerce and industrialization within a short span of time.
For outstanding contribution in the socio-economic sector of the country, the Govt. of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh had accredited Sayem Sobhan as the Commercially Import Person (CIP).
Sayem Sobhan Anvir is the Managing Director of the Bashundhara Group, a cluster of more than 20 industrial and business enterprises, in Bangladesh.
Enterprises of the group have domination in real estate, construction inputs, heavy steel & engineering, paper & pulping, alternative energy, mass-media, maritime transportation, information technology, large-scale excavation & dredging, food & beverage, vocational & health education, utility service supplementation and international trading sectors.
A well-mannered, always-cheerful, socially-connected and down-to-earth person Anvir is third of his four brothers. His spouse Sabrina Sobhan is also a director of the group. He is the worthy father of a son and a daughter.
He is a member of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI), Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce & Industries (MCCI), SAARC Chamber of Commerce & Industries, Dhaka Club Limited (DCL), Gulshan Club Limited (GCL), All Community Club (ACL), and Uttara Club Limited.
Anvir is an organizer and patron of different sports and socio-cultural organizations at home and abroad. Serving the humanity is his passion.
He was conferred the US Congressional Recognition in 2011 for his outstanding contributions aimed at consolidating business ties between Bangladesh and the United States of America. He is also a recipient of different prizes including ‘Best-Stall Trophy’ at the Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) in 2006.
