S A K Ekramuzzaman is a pioneer in making tiles & sanitary ware available in Bangladesh & most famous for bringing world’s best ceramic tiles brand, RAK ceramics, to Bangladesh which is contributing to the development of livelihood of people by creating job opportunity & business.
During his days in UAE Mr. S A K Ekramuzzaman established his relationship with RAK UAE as a distributor. He shared his thoughts with HH Sheikh Saud Saqr bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Chairman of RAK Ceramics, UAE and currently ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, UAE to come up with a venture in Bangladesh, the land where he was born & bought up. HH Sheikh Saud Saqr bin Mohammad Al Qasimi agreed to come up with the venture of RAK Ceramics Bangladesh in partnership with SAK Ekramuzzaman, investing TK 1500 million in 1998. The path to ceramics industry was thus paved in Bangladesh with a legacy of RAK Bangladesh. There began the journey of his entrepreneurship, which he had valued all the way through. The corporate landscape of Bangladesh was not very welcoming then but he took the challenge to break the status quo and set trends and standards in business.
RAK Ceramics is one of the largest ceramics’ brands in the world. Specialising in ceramic and Gres Porcelain wall and floor tiles and sanitaryware the company produces 123 million square meters of tiles and 5 million pieces of sanitaryware per year at its 22 state-of-the-art plants across the United Arab Emirates, India and Bangladesh.

RAK Ceramics now has a Joint venture plant in Morbi since 2017. Along with a green field plant in North India, it has been operating since early 2018. The company also actively enhancing its footprint by opening Company Owned Orientation Centers, opening Exclusive and Privilege Dealer outlets and seeping further into Multi-Brand Outlets across the country.
RAK Ceramics is a publicly listed company on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange in the United Arab Emirates and on the Dhaka & Chittagong Stock Exchange in Bangladesh and as a group have an annual turnover of approximately US$1 billion.
The company has a primary listing on the Dhaka Stock Exchange, and its operations date back to the year 2000, with incorporation in 1998. The structure of the business in its current state is representative of a UAE-Bangladesh joint venture project.
SAK Ekramuzzaman was born in 1957 in Bangladesh. The third child of an aristocratic family in Chaportala village under Nasirnagar Upazila of Brahmanbaria – he was raised with 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
SAK Ekramuzzaman takes pride of being the highest taxpayer of the country in 2014-2015 and 2015-2016, the year when Bangladesh was declared to be one of the fastest economies in the world. He received the prestigious “Bangladesh Bank Remittance Award” in 2013.
