Moazzem H. Chowdhury
A well-established pharmacist and social activist
There are many people in the world, who have turned into an extraordinary individual from an ordinary one by dint of their talent, merit and self-confidence. Moazzem H. Chowdhury is one of them who achieved the ladders of success who is a pharmacist by profession. Rotarian Moazzem H. Chowdhury is currently the chairman of International Media Arts Corporation, LHCM Foundation and Nasirnagar Agro Ltd. He is the international coordinator and secretary of California Waves. Through ITaranga of California, he has been completing Bangladeshi Arts Music and Culture Globally. He is culturally minded person. He has established the National Poet Nazrul Club in many schools in remote areas of Bangladesh. He is deeply involved in the activities of FOBANA.
After passing SSC and HSC with distinction from Momenshahi (Mirzapur) Cadet College, Moazzem H. Chowdhury was admitted to Dhaka University and obtained Master of Science in Pharmacy with good results. Then, he came to America for higher education. He gained experience as a pharmacist by working at many of the world’s leading companies such as Rite Aid, Wal-Mart, Ralphs, K=Mart and Longs Drug in California. He later contributed in this trade as an owner and pharmacy director of Desert Drugs, Medicine Shoppe, Newhall Pharmacy and Crown Valley Pharmacy. He also runs pharmacy and other businesses in local towns.
However, Santa Clarita Valley gave him huge popularity locally. He assists local small businesses through his personal training. He also provides them with effective guidance and advice on small business initiatives, operation and sustainability. As a prominent pharmacist, he is creating awareness about their Annual Fee Vaccination and other health needs among the people of the Bangladesh community in Santa Clarita Valley. He looks after the needs of the people and imparts pharmacy knowledge. He has been assisting many meritorious students of pharmacy through his scholarship program. Many of them are now established themselves as pharmacists.
Moazzem H. Chowdhury is also a cultural organizer and initiator of cultural events. Despite his busy schedule, he used to organize cultural events locally and internationally. He is locally associated with humanitarian, social and charitable activities. He believes in exchange of ‘Global Knowledge’. Each year, he works to create awareness about Bangladeshi art, literature and culture among students and teachers at California State University of Northbridge and the College of Humanities. He is preparing to contest the city council elections to keep the city Santa Clarita safer and more beautiful so that the city is developed as a family-centric, business-friendly, technologically and habitable one. He always believes in the leadership by which the vitality and development of the country can be increased in a healthy environment.
Moazzem H. Chowdhury left the country 43 years ago but did not forget his motherland for a moment. He is working for the development of education in his own area in Bangladesh. He has set up an NGO called LHGH Foundation in 1998 with the government approval to develop helpless and unprivileged people of Nasirnagar in Brahmanbaria. He has founded Nasirnagar Agro Ltd. for economic cooperation. Any project presented by the NGO is not implemented with outside help or loan and its dividends are spent on NGO related work. The profit spends on social work and development of the helpless poor.
Moazzem H. Chowdhury is very dedicated to human welfare who has been living in the United States for more than 32 years. He and his wife Jinnah have two children- Simon and Jenisa. Although they were born in America, they have a deep affection for the culture of Bangladesh as they are brought up in such way by their parents.
