Md. Saifur Rahman Saif is one of the princes of the country’s business arena. Born with a golden spoon in his mouth, this handsome young entrepreneur is an active leader of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI). He is the Director of Fair And Appropriate Technology Limited (FAT), one of the leading companies in the telecommunications sector, and the Managing Director of S Rahman Group.
He was born in an aristocratic educated business family of Manikganj. This traditional family of Jamirta village in Singair upazila is enlightened in both business and political aspects. The grandfather of Saif, SM Abdul Mannan is the former Member of Parliament. He was the president of the elite Gulshan Club in Dhaka twice. His father Mohammad Yunus is an established entrepreneur and businessman. His mother Safia Yunus is a homemaker. His sister Israt Zinat as well as her husband, Dr Imtiaz Ahmed are registered physicians in London.
From his childhood, Md. Saifur Rahman Saif was meritorious and completed his SSC and HSC from Savar Cantonment Public School and College. He received his BSc Engineering degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) from American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) in 2011. He received his executive master of business administration degree from North South University in 2020.
Talented, self-confident and visionary young Md. Saifur Rahman Saif has already made a name for himself as an emerging business leader besides his business venture.
He is the convener of the Standing Committee on Protection of Consumer Rights, Essential Commodities and Market Monitoring of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the country’s top business chamber. He is a member of the Standing Committee of Bangladesh Industrial Association (Textiles, Pharma, Chemicals and others). Earlier, he was the joint convener of DCCI Standing Committee and real estate including urbanization, decentralization. He is also associated with Dhaka North JCI. He has acquired these qualities of leadership since his childhood. He is also associated with the MBA Club at North South University.
Md. Saifur Rahman Saif, an accomplished and energetic young man of the time, is associated with Iron Sword Tex BD and Sword Tex. He is the Managing Director of the Malaysia-based company Fair Production Sdn. Bhd. He is quite proficient in English besides Bengali. From an early age, this promising young man has shaped his thinking as an entrepreneurial businessman. He thought that jobs enslaved people. And if an entrepreneur becomes a businessman, there is an opportunity to work independently.
That is why he has become involved in the family business. Besides, he has established himself as an entrepreneur. S. Rahman Group has in it the creativity of development thinking. He thinks that Bangladesh is a country of potential. In order to make use of that potential, industrialization in the country has to be increased. It will be possible to employ huge manpower besides increasing the national production of Bangladesh which will be an opportunity to export in the world market. The young entrepreneur thinks that the country’s Small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) sector should be prioritized.
He is hopeful that Bangladesh will be able to survive in future through competing in the international market. The main reason behind this is that the entrepreneurs of new generation are using advanced technology in business. He believes that young entrepreneurs work hard after assessing the quality and sustainability of any product.
Saifur Rahman Saif’s comment on the recent coronavirus pandemic is ‘We should be very careful and cautious in our businesses’. He believes that it is possible to protect oneself from the coronavirus by following the guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO). ‘People have to work for a living and in that case they have to do it keeping themselves safe,’ he says.
Saifur Rahman Saif is feeling seriously about the economic potential of the proposed economic zone of the country. He says that Bangladesh will be able to become a developed country very fast through this. He says, despite the global economic downturn, the economy of Bangladesh has remained normal due to remittances and export-oriented industries in the country, including the garment sector.
Md. Saifur Rahman Saif, a young entrepreneur, thinks that the establishment of ‘Good Governance’ is necessary for the overall development of the country. Accountability can only be ensured once good governance and rule of law are established. Otherwise, there will be development but bleeding will severely hamper that development.
In the power sector, he has jointly initiated G2G work worth Tk 25,000 crore with a Chinese company through Power Grid Company Bangladesh. This will modernize the distribution lines of the power sector in the country.
