Dr Basher M Atiquzzaman, also known as ‘Dr. Atiq’ is well known specialized physician, academician, writer, philanthropist and leader.

Dr. Atiq went to Motijheel Ideal High School and Dhaka college for his secondary and higher secondary educations. Beside his extraordinary academic achievements he won the President gold medal for extempore speech and debate. He graduated Medicine from Chittagong Medical College. Beside his outstanding academic performance he served as elected Literary Secretary for Chittagong Medical College student union for subsequent threes times.

Dr Atiq earned his post graduate medical training from State University of New York Downstate and Stoney Brook. He specializes in Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, Gastroenterlogy and Hepatology.
Dr Atiq has published research articles in various peer reviewed journal and authored several chapters in four text books. He served as Director of Gastroenterology, Chairman and vice chairman of Medicine of Florida Hospital, kissimmee and Osceola regional Medical Center. Currently he is a faculty of College of Medicine of University of Central Florida and Associate of Center for Digestive and Liver Center of Florida, Orlando.

Dr Atiq has served as board of Trustee of Bangladesh Foundation and Bangladesh Institute of North America and lead various philanthropic activities in Bangladesh and North America. He also served as President of Bangladesh Medical Association North America, Florida and Chittagong Medical College Alumni of North America.

Dr. Atiq is a prolific writer and writes in various newspapers and online portals. He likes to sing, do photography and gardening. Traveling with his family is his favorite hobby and he had traveled more than sixty countries.

Dr. Atiq has contributed tremendously to the Bangladeshi community of North America. He has also helped Bangladesh by technology transfer, developing telemedicine platform, providing necessary instruments and financial support through various organizations during this COVID-19 epidemics.

Dr Atiq authored two handbooks for first-liners of covid 19 infection and relentlessly working here and in Bangladesh virtually. He is a founding member and board of Directors of Planetary Healthcare Alliance, a collaborative efforts of Bangladeshi physicians globally for education and capacity building.

Dr Atiq is married to Dr Tahsina Atiquzzaman who is an internist. Their only daughter Nabiha is pursuing a career in medicine and son Nabhan is a junior in high school.
