Summit Power Limited, established in the private sector in the country and known internationally, continues to make significant contributions to the national economy. The company has been operating through a corporate culture since its inception. The company is not being run only by skilled and experienced employees but also intelligent, talented, hardworking youth. ‘Youth is power, youth is success’- these words are prominently visible in the case of Summit Power Limited because, Ayesha Aziz Khan, a visionary youth, is working in a very important position in this company. She is the Finance Director of Summit Power Limited.
Summit Power Limited (SPL), a subsidiary of Summit Group is the first Bangladeshi Independent Power Producer (IPP) in private sector providing power to national grid. The company was incorporated in Bangladesh on March 30, 1997 as a Private Limited Company. On June 7, 2004, the Company was converted into Public Limited Company under the Companies Act 1994.
Ayesha Aziz has to perform different works as a Director of Summit Power Limited, Summit Industrial and Mercantile Corporation (Pvt) Limited, Summit Narayanganj Power Limited, Summit Purbachal Power Company Limited and Summit Uttaranchal Power Company Limited.
As per private sector power generation policy of Bangladesh, Summit sells electricity to the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) and Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB) only. Due to the practice of Integrated Management System (IMS) to run the day-to-day business operation, the Company has been certified by ISO 9001 : 2008– Quality Management System, ISO 14001: 2004 – Environmental Management System and OSHAS 18001: 2007 – Occupational Health and Safety Assessment System.
Ayesha Aziz Khan, a brilliant woman entrepreneur of the time, has been passionate about money and trade since childhood. After completing O level and A level from an established school in Dhaka, she received a bachelor’s degree in economics and business from University College of London (UCL) and an MBA from Columbia University in New York, USA.
Ayesha Aziz Khan, a skilled and self-sacrificing entrepreneur, is not only busy in her business but also playing an important role as an organizer. She is an honorary member of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI). She has visited India and the United States as a member of a business delegation with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina which has brought her a unique height and immense respect.
Ayesha Aziz Khan says, we all should work together to make our country developed. She strongly believes in the saying , ‘United we stand, divided we fall.’
