Srabani Singh, CPA is a talented Bangladeshi-origin American and a practicing Certified Public Accountant in the United States.
Srabani currently works as a Specialist at the US Office of Disaster Assistance. Besides, she is the Principal of Srabani Singh CPA P.C. and maintains two offices in New York and in Connecticut.
With an advanced life philosophy and a global citizen mindset, Srabani Singh came to the United States of America (USA) in 1999. She went to attend school in Texas and graduated with a Cum Laude Honor roll earning bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Texas at Arlington. Srabani was determined to become a female entrepreneur since childhood. Her father was a renowned businessman in Chittagong, a major coastal city and financial center in Bangladesh. Srabani’ s interest in the use of technology in the financial sector motivated her to pursue a career in the financial industry following her graduation.
Henceforth she stepped into Wall Street in New York as an Investment Banker. Throughout her banking career Srabani worked at JP Morgan Chase, Meryl Lynch, HSBC Bank and Capital One, acquiring substantial operational and managerial knowledge of the business and finance industry. At the peak of her banking career Srabani became a highly recognized executive exceeding national goals of major banks in acquiring and retaining High Net Worth Commercial relationship. However, Srabani voluntarily chose to serve the financially disadvantaged mainstream minorities by working as a socio-economic development banker on various projects in East Harlem, New York, and institutionalized Microfinancing strategy to provide financial solutions to low income businesses and families.
Srabani decided to further her studies to take her entrepreneurial skills to the next level. She completed and passed all four parts of the extremely challenging Certified Public Accountancy exam on first try, while being a dedicated mother. The luminary and meritorious accountant Srabani Singh worked as a Tax Specialist for KPMG and Tax Associate for Price water House Cooper, two of the Big 4 accounting firms in the world.
Srabani believes: Entrepreneurship must be driven by passion to solve an existing problem. Srabani’ s dream to become a social entrepreneur was further strengthened by her dedication to resolve the problem of economic and social hardship faced by single parents and the resulting impact on their children. Her current motto is to promote higher education and economic empowerment initiatives for women both in United States and in Bangladesh so that women can take control of raising the standard of living for their children, families, and communities.
Srabani Singh is also a cultural activist and recitation artist. She expresses her view of social reform through her cultural activities. During her tenure at KPMG she organized events for KPMG Family for Literacy Groups. As a banker she had organized Black History Month events and book drives in East Harlem, NY, promoting minority artists and writers. Her solo recitation program was held = at the Academy of Bangla Arts and Culture (ABAC) in Dallas, TX, Bangladesh Institution of Performing Arts (BIPA) and Club SANM in New York. Srabani is a trained Eastern Classical Music Singer. Srabani Singh, a talented personality has gained popularity in the cultural arena in New York in Bangladesh community through various social and cultural programs.
Srabani Singh started her solo CPA Practice institutionally in her own name in 2019. Within a very short time she started providing accounting, tax, business, and financial consultation to a large number of clients in New York and in Connecticut. As a result of the current coronavirus outbreak, Srabani had to close her office and continue to provide professional services from home. She is currently serving the country as a Specialist at the US Office of Disaster Assistance
Srabani Singh is a frequent speaker in Bangladeshi Television and Media. During the lockdown she appeared in live talk show for Voice of America, TBN 24, NRB Connect to provide financial advice and encouragement to the Bangladeshi community. She circulates her E-Newsletter named ‘Stamford Business Journal’ highlighting information on current economic matters. Concurrently, her column “Tax Talk” gets published in Thikana, a major Bangladeshi newspaper in the USA which provides information on tax and business issues with to benefit the Bangladeshi business community in New York.
